The essence of hydrolysis of PET material is that its ester bond reacts with water molecules under the catalytic effect of terminal carboxyl groups to generate alcohols and carboxylic acids, and the newly generated carboxylic acids will further catalyze the hydrolysis reaction, which eventually leads to accelerated degradation of polyester material performance and eventual failure.
At present, an effective and low-cost way to solve the problem of PET hydrolysis is to add carbodiimide anti-hydrolysis agent. Because the anti-hydrolysis agent can react with the end carboxyl group in the polyester material to produce urea compounds, effectively slowing down the process of hydrolysis reaction.
For example, when 0.5%-1.0% of carbodiimide anti-hydrolysis agent HyMax®1010 is added to the monofilament of paper machine dryer screen, its anti-hydrolysis performance is significantly enhanced and its service life is at least 3 times longer. This not only reduces the cost for screen replacement but also reduces the number of stops and screen replacements, significantly reducing paper production costs.
